Hey i live in hawai’i and i can’t make calls to hawai’i. I only have one relative in the mainland, butmany over here. Please fix this and make hawai’i and alaska calling available in the next update!

is a great addition to the TextFree service.
I could wish that it would allow display of received pictures, sending of pictures, and didn’t use Flash. But that’s just nitpicking. As a tool to use when I can get at a computer but don’t have my iPhone for some reason, it’s good to have available just as it is.

Hey,
There is one thing that I noticed that needs to be worked on, and that is sending picture texts to phone number rather than the @textfree.us address. I am able to sen and recieve pic messages fine, only I have to tell my friends to send them to an address instead of my phone number.
Other than that, nice reception, sound quality, etc. with calling. Next on the list… voicemail (I hope!)

Okayy I LOVE the app!! But 3 things that I really think should happen! 1)VOICEMAIL!!!! this would make this app better tan anyother!! 2) reciveing pics! How do u go wrong with that!! 3) and problobly the most important the ability to run WITHOUT wi-fi on the iPod!!! And one more thing…… what is the “passcode” that comes up when you hold the top left corner?!? Please please please consider these!

2- Read the instructions: To receive a pic message, the sender must send to your @textfree.us address, NOT your TextFree phone number.
3- How do you expect it work on an iPod Touch without WiFi? Smoke signals? Telepathy? Seriously…

Gawwsh, he was just making a suggestion, leave him alone… And actually, they could make those improvements easily. Just combine the @textfree.us thing with your #. And also, there is a thing called 3G… and now 4G… if the droid can make 3G into wifi, there is a way to make wifi into 3G compatable

Hey! I’m loving the new update right now, and texting on my iPod Touch just got 100% easier. But there’s a problem I still face. I live in Hawaii and I can’t call anyone. I understand this feature is allow to everyone else in the world except Alaska and Hawaii. Please work on updating the app which would extend the calling feature to people who does not on the Mainland.
Secondly, your new textfree on web is great! I have been looking for a tool in which I can call and text using my mac. The best part about this is the fast sending and receiving.
I’m loving the new web app and I suggest extending it to a software for computers. It could be somewhat like Skype, except you would have your own number and it reaches to other mobile phones.
Please take this into consideration. As we say in Hawaii, Mahalo!

This is EXACTLY my problem! People might think that in Hawai’i we’re all about laying down and being chill, and that we all live in grass shacks, but that’s not true! We’re just like all the other states. So please fix this ASAP in the next update!

I just wanted to let you know that your textfree app is nothing short of amazing. Neither my family or I can afford a cell phone, and your app almost completely resolves that issue. I say almost because I use an itouch, so I have to be in wi-fi. Seriously.. free texting.. (near) free calling.. a free phone number.. and to top it off.. a free headset! Your app has quite literally saved my life when I’ve been stranded in unknown towns/cities in harsh weather and had no other source of communication. Just like to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Pinger!

Also I noticed as well in the top left corner if you hold down the pinger icon. A screen appears that says ‘enter code’. Just curious what the page reveals, not for the code(obviously). I doubt you’ll reveal that nifty little secret, but it’s worth a shot.

Yes I get the same exact problem too. I also get this notification when I touch the call button it says it has to register and then it says error. I don’t know if these problems are because my wifi is through a satellite or not.

is anyone having problems receiving notifications? everything was working fine until they switched over. i even had the beta version and it worked great. my settings are all turned on. i don’t even get texts unless i go to the app and it refreshes. help!

ok i lover the web based pinger. just one thing that bugs me: can you fix the header of the webpage to something more user friendly unstead of displaying http://www.pinger.com/textfree at the top of my webpage? and maybe like say Textfree (x) where x is the number of new messages you have. it just bugs me that an awesome company would not have done this!

I have an iPod Touch and Kindle with 3G so I don’t need an expensive cell phone to get online everywhere I go, but since Kindle can’t handle Flash I can’t login to see my text messages when I have no wifi connection. Any chance there will be a flash-free version of the site someday?
I’m also having the same problem of no more push notifications lately.

well, you earn minutes by going here… settings (Gears symbol) and go down to remaining minutes astnd then click earn FREE minutes… And you gain them by downloading some of the apps and use them to make FREE calls, but u loose minutes as u make calls… the calls also usually drop… like always and it stinks.

I love the 100% but there is some bugs that need to be fixed. Every time I send a text an error occurs, my badges is wrong when I get one text it says i received over 300 texts. Another bug is when I delete the app and reinstall it, the old messages that I deleted before are reappear.

about the badge thing: i thought it was the privacy thing which i then turned off and it kept doing it!!! have u noticed that every new text message another number appears? so wierd!!!! also i turnes privacy off (i had it on before) and still its like privacy is on!!! UGH!!!

I preferred the less feature-rich version… because it always worked. Since “upgrading”, I continuously get messages that the network is busy (maybe because people are tying it up with calls?) and I no longer get a push when I get a new text, even though it’s set to notify me. I have to go into the app and re-fresh to see new notices. Hope these issues are fixed soon – I miss my old, working version!!

Since the new update that was supposed to make it faster and more reliable, textfree with voice hasn’t worked. I click on the app and it goes to the white screen with the TEXTFREE WITH VOICE on it, and stays there. I can’t do anything. Please help or get a new update that works

Ever since the new update my app has been slow and unreliable, and now it just wont work. I dont know if its because i dont have the newest itouch or because of the weather but its pretty frustrating.

same here. TextFree with Voice cannot make or receive any calls. iPod Touch seems to dial (no ‘dialtone’ though) and complete the connection and the timer starts incrementing, but the callee’s phone never rings!
In the other direction a caller calls my TextFree number, my Touch says a call is coming in. I click answer. The call time starts incrementing, but… the caller is never actually connected and still here’s ringing as if I never answered. Simply doesn’t work.

Turns out my dLink Router was to blame NOT TextFree. After I updated the router’s firmware TextFree with Voice is working beautifully!
Nikki and everyone having issues receiving or making calls, you may want to make sure your router has the latest firmware.

on the app the texting works perfectly but when someone tries to call me, i can not see their incoming call but i can see the missed call after i hang up.

Open up your setting on your iPod or iPhone and click on notifications. Turn textfree notifications on and set the sounds you want to show up, then you will be notified like a regular cellphone when you get an incoming call.

My iPod won’t receive message. I will be able to see theessage pop up on my screen when it’s locked but when i try tl go to the textfree app and see the messages they won’t be there. And then when I try to send a message it always says there’s an error and to try again later:/

When I exit out of the app while still talking on the phone. It will eventually stop working, either the other person can’t hear me or I can’t hear the other person. I would really like to be able to go through my iPod while still talking. Nothing big just look something on the Internet. Check back on an old email. If you could please fix this I would be very happy. Thank you.

Hi there! Textfree uses the internet to work. So when you use another app that needs internet access, it boots Textfree out. You can email support@pinger.com if you need more help 🙂
